The Next Time You Feel Sad
The next time you feel sad, Think of all the things that made you smile. Think of the dollar on the side of the road Think of the present you didn’t expect Think of the obstacles you overcame Think of all your little wins Think of the time you truly felt like yourself Think of the time he smiled back at you Think of the best dream you ever had Think of the time you led something successful Think of the people that love you And before you know it You’ll be happy |
The world would
be a better place if...
Instead of fearing faces we faced our fears. You clutch your purse as he walks by. All he wanted to do was say a simple hi. You see her hair concealed and think she's a terrorist. The last thing she'd do is use her fist. You spy his bumper stickers and prepare for hate. He surprises you by telling you that you look great. Instead of judging by weight we waited to judge. You whisper that she should lose a couple pounds. She hears you and all the other sounds. You see him full of sweat and laugh. He's worked so hard to drop that half. You tell her she has the perfect frame. She purges again, seeing nothing but shame. Instead of yelling hatred we hated yelling. You leave comments saying his work could do much better. It's the first thing he's done since he broke from his fetters. You call her names like ugly and dumb. She's come so far without her mum. You look at his pictures and call him gay. He's finally accepted himself but you've ruined his day. Instead of caring about popularity we popularized caring. You look at her, 100 likes and all. No one knows how much she bawls. You admire his hair, his looks, his abs. Hidden under his sleeves are all his scabs. You aspire to be just like her. All the medication makes her life a blur. Every time you look around, Ignore colors and ignore sounds. Look into minds and hearts, And you'll find that everyone is a work of art. |
