My Life Goal
Choosing to become whatever you want isn’t as simple as adult figures portray it to be. They say to become whatever you want, which sounds very supportive, but what if you don’t know what you want to become, or even how to find out? For a lot of high schoolers, this is the case. They don’t know what they want to be, or how to even find out. They just go through high school with no particular goal to achieve, or plans for the rest of their life. I believe that this is the area that I’m lucky at. Very early on it was pretty obvious to me what I wanted to do with my life, even if I recently noticed it. I enjoy helping people, and making them feel better. All it took was me realizing how significant love between two people to realize that I want to become a marriage counselor.
When I was young I used to watch a lot of romantic orientated TV shows and movies. Being fairly young, a lot of kids teased me about it, so it quickly became my guilty pleasure. Once I watched my first romantic oriented movie, I couldn’t get enough. Seeing the chemistry between the two young romantics always made me indescribably happy. I liked these TV shows and movies so much that my life goal came from them, and my life goal is to one day have a wife and kids.
For a while this was just a simple thought that stayed in the back of my mind. What amplified my want for this was me realizing how hard it would be for me. For starters, I’m far from being attractive, and my poor vision certainly doesn’t help. Thinking about this is what led me to the career of a marriage counselor. While I may never have the luxury of being in a relationship, I could definitely help those who are in one, even if the relationship is having a few problems.
People who really know me have told me that I would be the “perfect” boyfriend, and while I may never be one I would love to help one in a not-so-perfect relationship. I’d want to help them because having a girlfriend or boyfriend is truly nothing to take for granted. In my free time I help some people online who are in struggling relationships. They always think that I have no clue what I’m doing since I’m just a teenager, but so far I’ve successfully helped a dozen relationships get much better.
In reality, I know how to be a good boyfriends, or friend in general. If I wasn’t very demure by nature, I could possibly be in a great relationship, but helping those who can’t adapt well to being in a relationship is a great alternative. I see it as fulfilling my reason for being alive. I don’t have the desire to make some huge advance in the world, but instead to help keep alive a bond between you that’s timeless. Unlike a cell phone or a computer, love will always be a large part of life, from the beginning to the end, and I’m very happy I get to help keep such an important thing alive and well.
With the proper education I believe I would make a great marriage counselor. For one I understand how people really feel. I also have the never ending dedication to help as many people as possible/ Above all else, I truly understand that when it really comes down to it, love between two people is always something to fight for.
