What
Would a Mirror Say?
What would a mirror say, If you treated it like the man Who loves differently, If it had to feel the pain Of your ignorant force Simply because its love was aimed Differently than yours. What would a mirror say, If you segregated its heart And torn its whole life apart Because light had a different reflection, If you were to limit its affection, Its career and education. What would a mirror say, If you spat on its opinion Walked all over its beliefs, And denied it of its peace For you inability to compromise For always wanting more Than what will suffice. What would a mirror do, If it had to live with you. Would it respect you? Would it admire you? Would it be fond of your words? Would that mirror keep on living, Or would it shut down its doors? |
Journey
of the Student
Through the years I journeyed Searching for my own way Never imagining my destination Venturing boldly into unknown gray A journey commenced in youth My mind too young to see clear I wandered forward with the help of peers And made progress year by year Now I stand near the finish line Less than one hundred working nights to go I’ll take my time across the stage in May With five hundred of the best I’ll ever know |
